Benecos Natural light fluid foundation - Review

This is my first time trying out organic products and vegan products. Benecos guarantees that BDIH-certified benecos products do not contain any mineral oils or derivatives / silicones / parabens / synthetic emulsifiers or their derivatives (PEG/PEG derivatives) / synthetic colorants or aromatic substances. They only use natural products and where possible cobtained from certified organic agricultures. Moreover Benecos products are Animal Cruelty Free!

The Benecos Natural Light Fluid Foundation contains avocado oil, sunflower oil and argan oil from certified organic farming. It is light weight and leaves the skin with a dewy finish. It is not very shiny but I do find that powdering the face is essential, at least for me and for people who do not have dry skin types. It provides light to slightly medium coverage. 

I wanted to try out a product which offers a bit more coverage than a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream, but is not as heavy as a full on foundation. Although it is not an all day lasting foundation I do find that it lasts a decent amount of time. I love wearing this foundation for summer as it feels quite fresh too. The shade range is not that great and 3 shades are not really enough. I am the middle shade - Sahara. Dune is the brightest shade and Mocca is the darkest. I am looking forward to trying out more products from this brand.

Dr. Organic Rose Otto Restoring Oil Facial Serum | Review

Rose Otto Oil has been used for many centuries as a beauty and therapeutic oil. No wonder it is still loved until today. It has endless beneficial properties which make it an ideal oil to use. It is an aromatic essential oil with a lot of skin calming, healing, anti-aging and uplifting properties. It helps restore sensitive skin and helps preventing fine lines and premature aging signs.

Rose Otto is great in promoting a more youthful look. It has also hydrating properties which help the skin to stay soft and adequately moisturized.

Since it is an oil one might think it is not suitable for oily skin types, which in all fairness is not the case. Our skin needs a certain level of oil. If we strip our skin out of its natural oils the body will produce more oil and hence the skin becomes oilier. What is important to keep in mind is to use oils which are not heavy and are as natural as possible. Although the skin stays shiny after application, I didn’t feel that the skin was clogged or anything. And that is something which is of extreme importance. On the other hand I felt that my skin, in the morning, feels more supple and smooth and hydrated. My personal opinion is to use this just before your night cream, after cleansing your face. I also find that the night cream works better when the Rose Otto oil is applied beforehand. It has lots of antioxidant properties which help in removing the ‘dirt’ or ‘pollution’ which settle on our face throughout the day. The antioxidants help to remove radicals which in the long term age the skin. It has also astringent properties which will help in diminishing the appearance of broken capillaries to give a more even coloured complexion.

I have tried applying this oil in the morning; however I don’t suggest it to people with combination/oily skin. It might work fine for people with dry skin though.

Having had these past cold weeks, I strongly suggest in investing in a good facial oil to help restore the skin hydration and its overall appearance.

Dr.Organic Organic Royal Jelly Night Cream | Review

It is definitely getting cold here in Malta. Mind you I do love winter quite a lot. With the change in temperature comes a change in the skin care I use. I have quite oily skin on my face but in winter it tends to become somewhat drier.

A couple of weeks back I was invited to an event organised by Dr.Organic . This first review is that of the dr.organic Organic Royal Jelly Night Cream.

Royal Jelly is a substance which is used to feed the Queen Bee. Normal working bees are only fed this during the first few days of their larvae stage. The Queen bee is continued to be fed this Royal jelly. It has been used since ancient times as an anti aging product. 

Royal jelly has moisturizing, nourishing, rejuvenating, soothing and healing properties due to its rich and precious composition consisting of  variety of nutrients, plants hormones, minerals  and vitamins essential to the body. Royal Jelly contains the essential amino acids which are the building blocks of collagen which supports the skin tissue and is very important in maintaining the skin's firmness.

 It helps with tightening fine lines and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. Royal jelly also assists in keeping the skin hydrated  and hence the skin is soft, supple and smooth.

I can go on and on about the benefits of Royal Jelly but I am just going to add some info about the product itself. 

It is an overnight repairing and rescue cream with a rich, luxurious texture containing a rich blend of Organic Royal Jelly, Aloe Vera, Jojoba Oil, Calendula, Macademia Oil, Papaya Oil, Japanese Fruit Wax, Irish Moss, Shea Butter, Honey, Red Clover, Heather, Vitamin C plus Cedarwood, Lemon, Geranium, Patchouli, Petitgrain and Sandalwood Essential Oils. The skin is nourished and hence it is more radiant, firm and has a smooth appearance. Overnight, skin cell renewal is stimulated and this helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

This cream may be my next favourite thing. I am quite picky when it comes to night creams as a lot tend to be quite thick and oily and do not really do anything. I feel my skin supple and more radiant the morning after. It also feels more hydrated and nourished. I feel that it's jelly/cream consistency makes this product ideal for all the skin types. It doesn't feel oily on the skin although it takes a while to be absorbed through the skin.

What is more good about this product is that is readily available in various stores around Malta (check this link here to check the nearest store) and it doesn't really break the bank like some expensive night creams. It costs 9.49 euros.

Dr. Organic Malta Event

At last! I am writing a blog post. I had a quite stressful week at work that now I have lots of things to write about in my blog and videos to film and upload because I haven't had any time!

So, earlier this week I was invited, along with my fellow bloggers, to an event organised by Dr. Organic. I have been quite into simple organic skin care and hair care products lately which lets just face it, is always a good thing to try.

Below is a brief introduction on the brand itself:

In Dr. Organic products one finds organically grown ingredients. The products contain the finest natural and organic raw material where possible. These products are thoroughly tests to ensure that they conform to the strict quality guidelines. Bioactive extracts are used to ensure each product is truly functional by nature. Dr. Organic products contain no harsh chemicals such as parabens, SLS (Sodium lauryl sulphate), perfumes or artificial fragrances.The products are not tested on animals and most of the products are non animal derived, with the exception of honey, beeswax, propolis and royal jelly. The event itself was quite an intimate one and it took place at the lovely Villa Bologna in Attard. The lovely Teri gave us an overview on the ranges which Dr. Organic carry. We also got the opportunity to try out several products. And I can also say that I have set eyes on some products already! Very generously, at the end of the event we were given the opportunity to take home with us 3 products to try out for ourselves.

Yves Rocher and Botanical Spa Experience!

Last Saturday was a much anticipated day. A couple of weeks ago the brand Yves Rocher contacted me for a meeting with regards to the brand. It all started with a nice cup of Vanilla tea, which happens to be my favourite kind of tea ever. Prior to the meeting I was offered a free Botanical Facial which I believe was around 1 hour 15 minutes long. But to be perfectly honest with you I could have stayed there for hours!

So, lets start with a brief introduction about the brand itself. Yves Rocher founded the brand that bears his name back in 1959. The products are formulated from botanicas, which are naturally similar to skin. Researchers study the  diversity and wealth of botanical life to reveal their unique benefits such as skin stimulation, repair and protection. One of their philosophies is their management towards the enhancement and reservation of all the botanical life around the world. For example like in Mali or Burkina Faso where the cultivation of fair trade Shea crops is combined with sustainable production, training and guaranteed minimum wage, thus promoting long-lasting economic development of the local population.

The brand itself caters for every age and skin type with products ranging from shower gels to perfumes and to very specific anti aging creams. A vast range of hair care products are also included. Makeup can also be found in the range with products which are infused with botanicals which is actually good for the skin.

       There are lots of things to discuss about this brand which in all fairness is quite new to me, although it is not the first time that I heard of it. One thing which I think is pretty awesome is that for every product which is bought from  certain ranges, Yves Rocher has pledged to plant a tree! How great is that?

Every facial is tailored for each specific skin type. Mine is quite oily and hence it involved a deep cleaning process to remove all the impurities and a mask to help regenerate the skin. The beauty therapists hands were very soft and gentle with the movements which I felt helped to remove the tension in my skin. The whole experience (which in all fairness was heavenly!) ended with a light makeup application which included foundation, powder and a couple layers of mascara and quite a natural touch of colour to the lips.

Michael Todd Honey and Oat Gentle Deep Cleanser Review

So, let's just say that well I am not the kind of person to go all organic. However, when it comes to skin care I tend to try and use simple products as much as I can. Products which do not have those nasty chemicals. Products which do their job with no fuss.

That is where Michael Todd True organics comes in comes in. I believe I tried them for the very first time last year or it could have been before.

MICHAEL TODD cleansers, washes and scrubs are made in the U.S. without parabens, artificial color and fragrance or other potentially harmful additives. Not tested on animals.

And, all are sulfate-free "no tears" formulas so you needn't worry about getting soap in your eyes.

I wanted a simple cleanser which not only removes makeup but most importantly is to cleanse the skin without drying it out. I have quite oily skin and it can handle some rough products but I wanted something simple for my cleanser.

So, I chose the Honey and Oat Gentle Deep Cleanser.

Ultra-hydrating sweet-lemony honey and oat facial cleanser in a base of refreshing aloe vera juice. Effectively removes makeup and impurities in one simple step.

Sulfate free "no tears" formula does not irritate eyes and rinses completely without residue leaving the skin clean, fresh and hydrated.

Designed for all skin types and especially beneficial for normal, dry and mature. 210 ml / 7 fl oz

I absolutely love this product. It really deep cleanses the skin out with drying it. it also removes makeup and it doubles up as a make up remover when I am wearing simple makeup not the waterproof kind of type. With the latter you would still need a proper makeup remover before hand. You can certainly use this multiple times during the day and since it has been extremely hot here in Malta I use it twice a day and sometimes even 3 times. I practically use it when I feel like my skin needs some cleaning up.

I really feel that the product has a very subtle and gentle fragrance with no particular and sharp scent and what is more important is that it doesn't contain any super fragrance or nasty chemicals.
