Essence New Products

Essence is always bringing out new products all the time. It has been featured several times here on my blog and as you know it is a very affordable brand. A few weeks ago I was sent some new makeup products to tryout and review. I had to giveaway some products as they were super light for my skin tone. Anyways , below is my take on the products.

I need a miracle mascara

Without mascara
With Mascara
Without Mascara
With Mascara
I am quite liking this mascara. It is quite natural but it gives length and volume at the same time. I do not think it is water proof but it did not smear or smudge throughout the day so it is somewhat long lasting.

Mattifying + pore minimizing Primer

This primer has black clay which is what makes is Mattifying. It has a light almost creamy gel consistency which I do really like. It doesn't have that slippery texture and I find that it goes really well under my usual foundations.

Too Glam to give a Damn palette

I have actually tried all the shades in this palette. The photos do not do it justice as some of the shades are really gorgeous. I really love the golden shade on the left and the purple and green above it. The shades are a mixture of mattes and satins and metallic/shimmery shades. I expected some shades to be of better pay off like the pink one on the left. But on the whole the palette is quite good. The shade on the far right is like a golden peach shade which is your highlighter and it is a really good one!

Go for the Glow palette 02 the warms

This is a highlighting palette with 3 shades - one being a golden shade, the middle one is like a duochrome pink and the one on the right is like a soft pink colour. I am particularly drawn to the far left shade (see below) as I tend to prefer golden/peachy shades rather than pink shades. All the shades are quite pigmented and metallic almost too.

Colour Boost in 04 mad matters and Melted Chrome in 03 copper dropper

Talking about good liquid lipticks with a very good price! The Colour Boost range is honestly a very good liquid lipstick. It is super matte and super pigmented. It tends to be a little bit drying, as all liquid lipsticks tend to be. However, it is transfer proof and lasts for quiet a number of hours.
I am not a big fan of the Melted Chrome. Although it is very pigmented and it looks gorgeous, however, when applied on top of a lip product it tends to be a bit overpowering. You should apply it with a very light hand and at the centre of the lips to create a subtle metallic effect. I am not a fan of using it alone.

Have you tried anything from the above?

Essence draw the line instant colour lip liners - Review and Swatches

I do love a good lipliner and a few weeks back I saw the new ones from Essence.  This brand is not new to this blog and I have quite a number of favourites from Essence. These new lipliners are the 'Essence draw the line instant colour lip liners'.
From left to right:
05 so un-grey-tful, 07 undress my lips, 11 cherry sweet, 14 catch up red, 12 head to-ma-toes, 16 fancy blush, 20 rich mahogany.
Formula. These lipliners are super creamy. The pigment? These lipliners are super pigmented and full of intense colour. Price wise? Perfect at just 1.49 euros. Having said that I think you can run out of them easily especially if you use them all over your lips. They are perfect to use as a normal liner or even as 'lipsticks' i.e. all over the lips for a matte colour.

Essence paired each shade with a matte lipstick which I think is a good idea. I didn't get the lipsticks though. There are 7 shades in total and they all swatch and apply beautifully except for one (20 rich mahogany) which I thought is a bit patchy, but still manageable.

Check the swatches below. Ps at a certain point I couldn't take the red off without leaving a bit of a red thing. Sorry if the lip swatches are not perfect hahah!

Bottom line. I am really loving these lip liners! Have you tried them yet?

Colour Correcting - Essence and Catrice

Last December I was sent some products from Essence and Catrice. As you all know these are frequently used in my blog and I do have several staples from both brands.

I haven never been a big fan of colour correcting of any sort. I always found that it always ends up being too much products on the face. Having said that I do have quite dark under eyes circles. So, I thought of giving these products a try.

Please bear in mind that you still need to apply concealer and foundation after using colour correcting techniques.

The below product is the Essence Correct to Perfect cc Concealer Palette.

The 4 shades are all cream shades and each colour basically neutralises a particular colour on the face. For example: Green neutralises redness, Yellow neutralises darker shadows in darker skin tones, Peach neutralises dark shadows in fair skin and Lavender balances sallowness.

The consistency is neither too think or thin and gives quite medium coverage I would say.
I did try all the shades except the Lavender one. The green colour did really counteract the redness around spots. Coming to the yellow and peach shades. It is suggested that the peach one is suitable more for the fair skin tones and the yellow for the darker skin tones. I did try both the yellow and the peach shade. However, although I do have a deeper skin tone I found that the peach colour was more suitable for me for the undereyes. It also neutralised the dark circles more than the yellow shade.

The next product is the Catrice Colour Neutralizer Mattifying Powder.

The powder has basically the same 4 shades however, in powder form.

I did try to use each shade separately, however, I prefer using a sweep of all the 4 shades all over the face as an all over powder.

All in all, I did enjoy both products especially the Essence one. Having said that I do feel that this is an extra step which I like to do when I want extra full face of makeup. I do suggest trying these products out if you want to start experimenting with colour correcting.

Below are the before and after using these products.

What do you think?

Summer 2017 Beauty Favourites

Summer is almost over, however, here in Malta we still are still blessed with some gorgeous sunny days. This time we decided to team up with some of Maltese Blogger Girls to bring you a variety of  post as a collaboration! There is also a chance to win the new Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette! Make sure you stay tuned to Pocalocca and to like all the other pages for a chance to win!!

My post (as the title implies) is about my favourite beauty things from Summer 2017. I hadn't had time to really play with new stuff this summer as I was finishing up my thesis and my Masters degree course. Anyways, here they are below!

I have quite an combination to oily based skin type. This Avene Cleanance Mat was just a perfect day cream for the hot summer months. PS: it is excellent as a makeup base too!

MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in Nice 'n Spicy was my go to lipliner this Summer. Perfect under any lip colour and is quite creamy and long lasting too!

Summer calls for SPF. This Inglot Makeup Base SPF 20 is just perfect! Makeup runs smoothly on the skin and stays all day!

Liquid Lipsticks have been an essential part these past couple of years. This Inglot HD Lip tint has been a favourite of mine this summer. It lasts all day and it is not that drying either!

The essence Volume Stylist Lash Extension is not marked a waterproof, but, it doesn't smudge or smear or budge! I love how it makes my lashes black and long and va va voom!!

The essence liquid ink waterproof is my all time favourite liquid liner. It is perfect for summer. It dries out to a somewhat slightly matte finish but lasts all day! It is waterproof, very budget friendly, doesn't smudge or smear!

Last  but not least... This pretty and gorgeous face palette from Zoeva. The golden blush paired with the matte bronzer and golden highlight just screams gorgeousness!
